Thai Oil with Essences

The gentle version of the Thai tradition. It keeps the acupressure and the stretching, but is done on a table with warm botanical oils and without the physical demand of traditional Thai. It's the middle ground for anyone who wants the Eastern approach without breaking a sweat.

What it is and where it comes from

The same map of Sen lines, travelled a different way.

Thai Oil isn't a separate tradition: it's an adaptation of Nuad Bo Rarn that emerged in Thai spas for clients wanting something less demanding. It keeps the theory of Sen lines and acupressure points, but changes the format.

The change isn't minor. Working on a table with oil removes the deep stretches that require floor work and body leverage, and introduces continuous gliding. You gain in relaxation and skin care; you lose in flexibility gains.

What you'll feel

Muscular work and relaxation at once

The acupressure delivers genuine therapeutic results, while the oil brings an enveloping quality traditional Thai doesn't have.

Mobility without physical demand

Gentle stretches improve joint range without you having to collaborate or hold awkward positions.

Nourished skin

Botanical oils are applied warm and absorb throughout the session, which doesn't happen in dry Thai massage.

A good entry point to Eastern work

If Thai massage appeals but its intensity puts you off, this is where to begin.

Especially good if you

  • Are drawn to Thai massage but don't want that intensity
  • Want something therapeutic and relaxing in equal measure
  • Prefer a table and oil over the floor and clothes
  • Are new to Eastern massage
  • Want improved mobility without effort on your part
  • Like a massage that looks after your skin too

Talk to us first if you

  • Are pregnant — we offer a dedicated prenatal massage
  • Are allergic to essential oils or have highly reactive skin
  • Have a disc herniation or diagnosed joint conditions
  • Have joint prostheses or recent surgery
  • Want deep work on one specific knot

If what you want is the authentic Thai experience with deep stretching, choose Traditional Thai: this one is deliberately gentler.

Frequently asked questions

What's the real difference from Traditional Thai?

Traditional is done clothed, without oil, on a floor mat, and is built on broad stretches that require you to let yourself be moved. Thai Oil is done on a table, with oil, and without those deep stretches. Same origin, very different experience.

Which should I choose for a first time?

If you want to try Thai without risk, start with Thai Oil. If you want the authentic experience and the intensity doesn't put you off, go straight to traditional. Both work as a first time; it depends what you're after.

Is there stretching?

Yes, but gentle and on the table: shoulder and hip rotations, leg opening, ankle mobilisation. Nothing like the leverage work of the traditional style.

Do I need to undress?

We work on the skin with oil, so clothing is removed from the area being massaged. You stay covered with towels except for that area, and underwear stays on.

Which duration should I choose?

60 minutes (€80) is the most balanced. 90 minutes (€110) for a full unhurried circuit. 30 minutes (€50) covers back and neck.

Can I choose the essences?

We use our house warm botanical oils. If you have a preference for a particular aroma or any allergy, say so when booking and we'll adjust.
